Coffeemin: A Time Cafe in Singapore?!

A cafe where everything is free, except for the amount of time you spend there!

By weijing

Always feel annoyed with cafes that chases you out just because you want to hang around a little longer? Don’t want to feel obliged to buy a drink when you just want to chill at a cafe? Thankfully, many of us can relate to that, including the boss of Coffeemin. Coffeemin is a cosy time cafe where you get to spend some alone-time or hang out with your family or friends, without feeling the pressure to leave. With mismatched furnitures, the concept of this cafe is the idea of home where customers can feel free to do anything they want.

There is a kitchen area where there are free flow drinks and snacks, with some even packaged in a tiny cute plastic bag filled with nostalgic childhood biscuits. There are even tea bags and a soft drink dispenser for customers to choose from. Utensils are all provided for as well.

There’s also XBox 360, computers, board games and a pool table for you to play. It’s basically a communal home with everything you ever need to bond or socialize.

The only catch of this beautiful cafe is that customers have to pay for the amount of time they spend there.

Every 10 minutes spent at Coffeemin is just $1 per person. There’s a minimum spending of $6 (1hr). Daily spending is capped at $30 regardless of the time you spend in a day, so that it remains affordable for everyone. The staff will record your check-in time on a receipt before you pay in order to keep track of your time spent there!

If you’re looking for a place to study, there’s free wifi here too! Apart from what’s available here, you can choose to bring your own laptop and snacks if you wish. If you’re looking for a place to hold an event (e.g. birthday parties, meetings etc.), you can too as it can fit about 50 pax!

If you haven’t gone to Singapore’s very first “time” cafe, it’s time you head on down to one of its two outlets now!
