People say “Old habits die hard”, and owner Donovan Goh of new café Old Habits may attest to that. Only in his early 30s, he collects many vintage items, from clocks, to toys, to signages and vinyl records. He boasted of his clock collection, which includes both battery-operated and digital clocks. The vast array of collectibles are now displayed in his café at Telok Blangah.
Nestled in the heartland of Telok Blangah Rise, Old Habits cafe is not your typical retro themed cafe, but a boutique cafe. Besides satisfying your appetite, you may have your retail therapy on these vintage items. To add-on the nostalgic vibe, Old Habits cafe plays old school tunes as early as the 70s. It is a place to appreciate the lifestyle of the old eras and immerse in the memories of the past.
Food wise, we were charmed by their relatively new item on the menu called “Seasalt Caramel Roast Chicken”. The chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender and filled with love. It is completed with a one-of-a-kind sea-salt caramel sauce on top. This is definitely a must try dish at Old Habits!
Old Habits is a very charming place, largely because the owners serve with a heart. You can also appreciate the artifacts of the by-gone eras, and immerse yourself with the forgotten memories of the past.
What we love about this place is that it reminds us of a memory capsule of our past that should be not be forgotten.
