Everyone probably has heard of Enchanted Cafe by now. It’s fairytale inspired interior is a favourite of many instagrammers and the food does not fall short. With the Halloween season drawing nearer, the demure fairytale appearance of the cafe is converted to look dark and eerie. Cobwebs are strung around every corner and many other Halloween inspired decorations are littered around every corner.

Not only does the cafe look the part, they have also created a special Halloween set menu for the occasion!

Starter

Forest Truffle Mushroom Soup

This is the only appetiser on the menu and the truffle in this dish comes in the form of the truffle oil, which is drizzled over the top of the soup. Hence the aroma of the truffle is very strong. But mix the truffle into the soup and the earthy taste of the mushrooms compliment the fragrant truffle oil. There are actual bits of mushroom in the soup as well which gives the soup a good contrasting texture. The portion is really generous as well!

Mains

Black Magic Curse

The first of two choices between the mains, The Black Magic Curse is basically your Mac & Cheese with an added twist! Served in a cute little pumpkin, don’t look down on it’s size as this portion is really filling! The Mac & Cheese is mixed together with organic charcoal as well has a generous handful of bacon. Top with half of a hard boiled egg which has stain marks to fit into the Halloween theme, the dish combines into a delicious mouthful. The charcoal makes the sauce thicker than the usual cheese sauce, but accompanied with the macaroni, and you will get a very satisfying bite.

Gutted to Death

Exactly like what we had imagined, this was plated to look like a pool of blood (or maybe organs) on a plate. The base is a pasta dish, and is dyed red with beetroot powder. Mixed in are a also variety of seafoods like clams and shrimps! There is a slight kick of heat at the end which gave the dish a different touch that we did not expect. The portion was larger than we expected as well, we were pleasantly surprised by how much came in one serving!

Desserts

Hansel and Gretel’s Cake

This cake was all too pretty to look at. The rainbow layers made for a nice contrast against the black plate. It is actually a vanilla bundt cake which is topped with a caramalised milk sauce and almond flakes. The cake was a little dense in our opinion but we love desserts so we could overlook it. This is definitely one for all you sweet tooths!

Sweet Nightmare

The best of both world for chocolate lovers, this little cupcake is chocolate flavoured with a white chocolate cream. The cupcake is not too sweet but still hits all the right notes. After a heavy meal, this little dessert is a great way to end it off!

Drinks

The Witches Antidote

Vanilla, milk and charcoal, mixed together to form a drink which tastes like popcorn. We have no idea how this works, but it sure does do wonders to your tastebuds. This sweet drink is a great accompaniment to your meal and though it looks like a milkshake, it doesn’t taste as heavy.

Butter Beer from Hell

Served in the most fitting cup, this drink is eccentric yet filled with flavour. Our favourite bit was the whipped cream on the top which is mixed with their homemade butter beer syrup. The sweetness of the cream mixed together with the butter beer syrup and apple cider vinegar helped to balance out all the flavours. The drink tasted like nothing that we had before, so this is one for you adventurous souls!

Not only are you in for a full blown three course meal, on selected dates, catch the witch come to life in a little sketch! Watch as she tries to figure out who stole her secret potion recipe book and the cafe turns dark to mimic the woods (or so we presume it’s the woods). The short skit is enthralling and with such great acting skills, we feel like the witch can take a hit at Halloween Horror Nights!

Treat yourself to a night of halloween goodness as you feast on unique dishes in a spectacular setting! The halloween menu racks up to $66.60 Nett for two people (choice of one main, one drink and one dessert) while the meal for one will cost you $34. While you can’t order the halloween menu items individually, feel free to add on any main menu items to your halloween set menu! Available for a limited time only from now till 31st Oct!
