An air-conditioned coffeeshop with a cashless paying system and robots? No, I’m not talking about the future. I’m talking about Singapore’s new high-productivity coffeeshop called FoodTastic that is about change how normal coffeeshops operate.

This “smart” coffee-shop led by the Chang Cheng Group offers a more efficient and fuss-free system for both customers and staff. For the customers, they can now pay with ease using various paying methods, queueing becomes less of a hassle, there’s a wider selection of food to choose from and there’s food 24/7. With the help of smart technologies, it can lighten the burden of the staff and allow them to focus on more important tasks. Contrary to what many believe, the introduction of robots and more machinery actually increases domestic employment, allowing the low-skilled tasks to be done by machines with the staff being upskilled to handle more high value tasks.

Efficient Paying System

Tired of always waiting to queue at the coffeeshop and once it’s your turn you realize you forgot to withdraw cash out? Luckily, FoodTastic has come up with the perfect solution. There are altogether 6 self-service order and payment terminals at the entrance of the coffeeshop! Customers can browse through the e-menu and order their food and drinks from there. At FoodTastic, customers can choose from 5 payment options: NETS, NETS FlashPay, EZ-Link, Eziwallet ( a mobile e-payment system) or cash! After paying, a receipt will then be issued with a queue number. Just wait until your queue number has been called out and showed on the display screen for you to pick up your order! It’s that simple, and not to mention, more efficient as well.

Wide Variety of Cuisines

There’s actually two separate central kitchens preparing Muslim and Non-Muslim food, hence it streamlines the food preparation area to make way for more seats in the coffeeshop. There are about 20 different food categories serving more than 300 food items that ranges from Pasta, Tom Yum Soup, Ayam Penyet to Dim Sum. All of the chefs here have more than 20 years of cooking experience so, needless to say, these food are safe for eating and scrumptious too!

There are a total of 9 categories namely: Chinese Vegetables Rice, Dim Sum, Local Delights, Muslim Dishes, Roasted Delights, Steamed Rice Sets, Thai Cuisine, Western Food and Beverages. We tried a variety of dishes from this coffeeshop, and we must say, we weren’t disappointed with the quality of each dish that was served to us.

Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles ($4.70)

Some of your hawker favourites are sold here too including this scrumptious plate of Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles! You can also find Hakka Yong Tau Food, Hokkien Prawn Mee, Ban Mian and Fried Carrot Cake here too!

Bacon Mushroom Carbonara ($6.50)

They even sell Western food here! From the classics such as spaghetti, steak and char-grilled chicken chop.

Roasted Delight: Char Siew and Roast Pork ($7.00/4 pax portion)

This range of roasted meats which includes char siew (barbecued pork) and roast pork tastes as good as it looks! It comes with noodles and rice, with side dishes that are available as well. The succulent meat is sure to satiate your taste buds!

Curry Chicken Cutlet Rice ($4.80)

I love this dish so much because they give a generous proportion of curry rice, vegetables and fried chicken cutlet! This classic and flavourful dish would definitely be a hit here! Apart from the ala carte dishes, the Chinese Vegetables Rice category also spans breakfast, healthy vegetarian and Teochew porridge sets.

Ayam Panggang Set ($5.00)

The Muslim dishes are mouthwateringly delicious. We tried their ayam panggang set, and the meat was so tender and savoury, I just couldn’t get enough of it!The Muslim Food Kitchen is still in the midst of getting their Halal Certification (as of now), but once they’ve gotten it, I’m sure both Muslims and Non-Muslims will flock to get a taste of the delicious dishes, which includes local favourites like Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng and Prata!

Authentic Thai Seafood Tom Yum Soup ($10.00/2-4 pax)

Yes, they even serve Thai cuisine here too! Fans of Thai food will love this place as they sell this bowl of spicy yet satiating bowl of Tom Yum Soup, as well as stir-fried specialities and Thai noodles! You won’t want to miss this.

Ready-To-Eat Food and Drinks Vending Machine

There is even a 24hrs ready-to-eat food and drinks vending machine located outside the coffeeshop! This is super convenient for customers to get a hot meal even in the wee hours, and it’s an easier form of takeaway food. There is very limited choices as of now, but they are adding more things into the menu to give customers a larger variety of food to choose from!

Robot Cleaners

There is a tray return automation system, which is one of Singapore’s first few places to incorporate this! It makes returning trays and sorting out cutlery and crockery much easier for customers and workers respectively.

This adorable automatic floor cleaning robot that looks like Elmo follows the pathway on the floor to assist the onsite cleaning crew with the maintenance of the floors! It’s so fascinating to see it move back and forth to clean the floors.

Singapore is coming up with more of such coffeeshops so if you can’t wait, check out FoodTastic’s high-productivity coffeeshop now!
