Many would have first heard of it from their parents and grandparents about the hottest bowl of noodles in the east, but the legendary wanton noodle is still making history today. Eng’s Noodle House, originally from Dunman Food Centre, is now in Tanjong Katong.
Best known for it’s springy noodles and super spicy chilli paste, Eng’s Noodle House also sells fried and boiled wanton, and boiled vegetables. I tried the fried wantons, and was pleasantly surprised by how much meat they packed in each one! Unlike places that serve you mere crispy flour for wantons.
Their notorious chilli is available in a bottle, and you can put as much or as little as your tongue can handle. There was a slight hint of saltiness at first, but it didn’t matter when I lost my taste buds towards the end.. So here’s a fair warning, don’t squeeze too much!
Eng’s Noodle House is located at 287 Tanjong Katong Road, and is open from 11am to 9pm. To avoid crowds, go before usual meal times!
