Most of you would have heard about this cafe, even if you are not staying around Kovan MRT. This popular cafe has received rave reviews for its delicious cafe food. Due to overwhelming support from its customers, it has since expanded and revamped their menu! The new section mainly serves desserts that are both refreshing and delectable (more on that later!). The food here is definitely worth your time and money!
You can even watch the pastry chefs at work making these delectable desserts because of their new open-concept kitchen!
New on the menu is the Specialty Cold Brew ($7). The Ethopia Sidamon coffee beans tastes more citrusy, as it has both lemon and orange tones in it. The coffee is roasted by Dockyard, a homegrown coffee roaster, and then it is brewed in-house. A must-try for coffee lovers!
On to the mains, we were excited to try some of the new mains on their new menu! We tried the Crab Cake Benedict ($18) which has crispy handmade crab cakes atop the English muffins and then drizzled with homemade miso hollandaise. Before you cut open the crab cake, have your phones at the ready because you get to see the egg yolk oozing out when you cut open it! The poached egg is actually hidden because it’s covered in hollandaise sauce! When I took my first bite of it, I can sincerely say this was one of the best take on the traditional Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted – unique and palatable.
This vegetarian dish is surprisingly tasty. The Basil Pesto Mushroom Toast ($14) consists butter brioche as the base with fresh pesto spread, along with sautéed swiss mushrooms on top, and of course the poached eggs. The surprise factor of this dish is actually the sweet cereal crumble sprinkled over the entire dish, adding some texture to the dish. The sweetness of the cereal crumble also balances out with the savoury sautéed swiss mushrooms, making this dish extra flavourful.
One of their most popular dishes that they’ve kept from their old menu is the Nachos Cheese Fries ($9)! Would you look at that. A bowl of fries enveloped with nacho cheese sauce and spices? Just perfect. If you’re looking for a cafe in Singapore that sells the best cheese fries, this is your best bet. Once you’ve started on this, you can’t stop. It’s that addictively good.
We just had to try one of their desserts from their new dessert section. They served us the Lychee Rosewater Cake ($7) which is rosewater vanilla sponge, with rosewater infused butter cream and a few pieces of fresh lychee. The cake is also sprinkled with pistachio crunch and edible rose petals. This dainty dessert is, needless to say, aromatic and has that floral taste to it that it actually taste like a rose garden in your mouth! A definite must-try!
