If you walk along Macpherson Road, you’ll come across Casuarina Curry, a well-known supper spot for locals to get their late night prata fix. Mr Keerthi, who runs the store, is working on modernising the way he runs it – both food and service-wise. Check out what we tried during our visit!

The latest dish added to the menu was the Ondeh ondeh tissue prata! This dessert is EXCLUSIVE to the Macpherson branch so remember to order it while you’re there! This yummy dish consists of coconut ice cream atop a bed of pandan jelly and encased in tissue prata. A reasonable portion of Gula Melaka (palm sugar) is also served on the side. The prata was very crispy despite being soaked with the Gula Melaka as we were munching on it. We thought it went exceptionally well with the cold coconut ice cream that was thick and creamy. The gula Melaka sauce was not too sweet and really reminded us of the traditional ondeh ondeh dessert. We definitely recommend this dessert to anyone with a sweet tooth!

We also tried the signature chicken biryani, which included biryani rice, chicken thigh, a hard boiled egg, achar ,papadum and of course, a side of curry. Upon the first bite of the dish, we gathered that the rice was flavourful and very fragrant. The egg went very well with the curry and achar combined as well. The papadums were crispy and light and were a good addition to the overall dish. Our favourite had to be the chicken itself which was tender and pulled away from the bone easily!

We all know how irresistible and easy papadums are to snack on, so customers have the option of buying some take-away papadums in a bag! Apart from papadums, you can choose from a wide-selection of other Indian snacks to bring home with you when you need to cure those late night hunger pangs. The store is even selling Chinese New Year snacks such as pineapple tarts and assorted cookies right now!
